Paris photographed by Albert Monier – L.P.A.M Editions in Chanterelle-Cantal, 1954

This book shows 64 heliogravure pictures taken by Albert Monier, with a foreword written by Henri Pourrat. Born and raised in south-central France, Monier came in Paris at the early 50’s and decided to shoot the city with a tourist-eye and an artistic sensitivity. Back in his village, he started to develop his photographs himself and made a postcards serie from them that became famous.

This artistic dimension was a small revolution in the traditional postcard industry and brought quickly success and notoriety to Albert Monier, who said : «Postcard should represent for the photography what disc represent to the music ».
